I'm looking at buying this 4 speed for my Dart project. It obviously needs an input shaft and bearing retainer. It comes with a bell housing with clutch fork, Z-bar, Z-bar ball stud and service kit, Mr. Gasket shifter with short straight shifter handle and all the shift linkage and a slightly used flywheel and clutch that need resurfaced for surface rust.
Opinions?
Bearing retainer is broken but I can't upload the picture.
This is the bearing retainer and shifter. I thought $1,000 for a good trans with the correct Hurst shifter was fair but I'm hesitant to offer 700 for this.
67440Dodge Wrote:700 is a little steep I think. Bearing retainer alone runs close to $100. Synchro's don't look too hot either, so you'd be looking at a rebuild also.
I agree. I wouldn't want to pay more than $400 for it.
Thanks guys. Amy told me I have to stop buying cheap stuff because I always end up spending more to make it right. I'll see what's available at Carlisle but with the car being far from finished I just may go with a kit from Passon or Brewers next year.
"Amy told me I have to stop buying cheap stuff because I always end up spending more to make it right" I hear this allot from Lauri too, and there right on.
IF you order from Passon make sure he has everything you need there in stock before placing the order....my 2 cents.
The Idaho Andy I love the smell of race fuel in the morning
So I went to return the transmission and the guy said he's tired of it lying around and if I wanted everything for a hundred bucks I could have it. Otherwise he was going to scrap it. Needless to say I broight it home along with a somewhat rusty flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and spare pedal assembly. He threw in a brand new Z bar too. I have parts now anyway.
