Bring paint back (even if temporary)
#1
What do you think I could use to shine the paint up with? Its only temporary the car is getting body work and paint before Carlisle.

I used some Meguiars on my Charger and it came up amazing for old paint, the same didnt work on the Coronet.

I was thinking either a rubbing compound or a 2000 grit wet sand, or maybe its so far gone it was painted in 1976!

Not taking this too seriously and want to have fun with it and not spend a lot of money, its all coming off soon anyway but..do want it to look just a little bit better cruisin around in OCMD in a couple weeks Smile

If there's enough thickness you can use 3M superduty rubbing compound and an old school buffer. That's remove a little paint, but there's always shine underneath...until the metal shows. LOL

Do you really think someone is going to get that finished before Carlisle?

I hope you're going to keep the mismatched quarter emblems. I can't imagine you wouldn't

That's going to be a sweet car when you are finished!

Talked to a Maguires rep about removing light scratches and asked what was the difference between a new product and the Ultimate compound I already have. He didn't try to sell me the new stuff, he just said use diluted rubbing alcohol to remove wax and stains and spend more time with the Ultimate compound. Havent tried it yet but I respect his advice.

And it's working! I mean, you're doing all the work, but it's working.
