Been noticing a knock in the front end last couple outings when turning, braking. Had my Dad wobble the steering wheel while I eyeballed under the hood. Well holy cow! The steering box is moving! The bolts came loose. I torqued-to-spec most of the important things on the engine/drive-line during assembly. Tonight I decided to check everything else and I was shocked how many fasteners were loose. Did everything on front and rear suspension. I guess the old coarser threads are more prone to loosening? A couple hours with the wrenches and the car drove/felt better. A couple squeaks and rattles went away as well! Def worth checking guys! Don't forget the lug nuts too!

Good tips, simple things get forgotten sometimes.

My new steering box came loose about a year after installation. I used Red loc-tite and 120 ft lb torque. Still don`t how it could have loosened up in the first place.
Probable should re check this.

Must be a steering box thing, I found mine to be loose last year. I noticed it when I turned the wheel and it felt loose.

I've had a steering box get loose too. It was only after I had changed the K frame out.
I use red loc-tite too.

I've been wanting to take my car to work and put it on a lift. It's time to recheck everything as was said. So I can agree about the importance of maintenance. I have to adjust my brakes every 3 to 6 months depending on how much I drive it.

Tell ya guys this is my first experience with a classic and it reminds me how nice new cars really are. Just put gas in em and go for 100K! But working on the oldies and tinkering is why we're car guys! Glad to give a reminder to check things out. Old timers (or more experienced guys)
