My latest project! Not a Coronet I'm afraid..
#1
Well since I started my new company Kokonut Kustoms and Kokonut Klassiks. I have been looking for a custom project. I found one a while ago, and it arrived at my garage tonight!

A bit of a bonus, what I thought was a a 2 door POST car, turned out to be a 2 door hardtop with electric windows all round!

the car..A '57 Plymouth Savoy! It's a project that has been started but never got completed by the last TWO owners.

Full frame off resto, 4 link rear end on air bags, Ford 9 inch (don't shoot me...) Custom engine bay, smoothed firewall, hidden brake booster etc. No engine or gearbox. This will be a concept car for my new company, in conjunction with my engine builder. So it is going to be a little radical for most Moparians to start with. We are dropping a Duramax V8 into it. But after we have some fun at the drags, and show it at a few top events over here, it will go back to being a Mopar.. With a new HEMI and 727 trans dropped into it.

Smile

Oh yeah..I'm not sold on the Mercedes E90 lights..So I'm probably going to work out a way to go back to dual headlights. But they will look modern.

Congratulations on your new business, I like the Duramax idea. Looks like plenty of room in there. Start a thread on the build it sounds like it will be interesting. I also work on diesels and know it pretty well. Good luck with your project.

Very nice! Congrats on the new business and I wish you the best of luck! Can't wait to see this finished. Love the way it looks now and with a Hemi power plant this will be one bad Savoy!

OK so update..

I just decoded the serial tag.

Turns out this car was made in the same factory my Coronet was! So they are relatives! Wink

The savoy had a 301 V8 originally (P31-2 option). The fender tag (did '57's have fender tags I suppose the must have had) is long gone as you can see the previous owner smoothed the engine bay a lot. But that is fine, we are going to hide wiring as much as possible. I want the clean showcar look.

I just sourced the headlight buckets and associated trim. Looking for the left and right grille extensions that go under the lights. Turns out it probably will be possible to go back to an original style quad headlight setup. But I think we make the inner set of lights actually be intakes for the turbo.. Smile

At least the lights will be a futuristic look. But I'll do it so we retain the stock trim etc. so if we take it back to normal headlights that will be possible. Especially when we put the Hemi back in it after having fun with the Duramax.
