I remember back on the farm we had a 57 Dodge D500 grain truck with a Poly engine and the funny thing is it had a 4 barrel carb on it... It had just as much torque under load as our newer Ford grain Truck with a 534 gas engine.

when the truck was worn out beyond repair the engine was pulled and put into our portable sawmill and worked for another couple decades.

I wonder if the 4brl poly heads were better than the 318 "car" 2 barrel units ?

Why does the cam sprocket have offset holes?

What oil pan are you going to use?

Not really sure about the cam sprocket holes. Every one I have seen seems to have a different design. Going to be running the milodon pan #31590.

I also have the 318 poly in my car - but the head doesn't look like yours.....;-)

Enjoying your pictures of the build.

Looking forward to see the result of all your fine work.
