Just a quick question guys n gals, amongst my short list of to dos for my 66 440, is to make my trunk appear stock(ish). I just scored an original spare rim and a bumper jack. I was wondering what the material to go over it should look like. My color scheme is red ext/black int. (not stock, but I didn't restore it)

A stock trunk on a '66 would be painted body color and have a mat that covers the spare tire.

Do I want the houndstooth or the herring bone pattern?

I know I'm not going stock on mine but I thought I would throw in my 2¢... I found a spray on bedliner in a rattle can which is flat black and plan to give the trunk one thin coat of that and then get a houndstooth mat for over the spare. Like I said, not stock but it should be tough, stop any rust, and MAYBE deaden a little vibration? Maybe?

Doesn't matter.. this is one of those things that whatever the factory had on the shelf went into the car.

Cool guys. Thank you. Now if all this salt would just rinse away, I can get it out!

Today was another day of the dust storms on the highway.. looks like the road departments are trying to dump all their salt for the year in a couple day period..

I've been noticing that too here. The salt whips up in the wind and you can taste it.
Going down the road in my big truck I look like pig pen.
