Hey gang.
Just a observation I have with my 67 Coronet.
Every time I hit a bump or pot hole. It sounds like I have metal coffee cans full of nuts and bolts bouncing around in the trunk.
I took everything out! I mean everything !
Still sounds like cling clang bang.
I checked the exhaust pipes too. All is solid!
Is this common with old mopars?

Nope, keep looking. Try putting someone in the back seat and go for a
to listen maybe they can narrow down which side.

Yeah ... Tank strap is tight. I do have a loose break line to rubber . No clip holding it above the rear end. Going to get a clip for that lil rattle.

Try searching in the area between the inside of the 1/4 panel where it meets the inside of the trunk floor. Nuts, bolts, rocks, anything small can fall into that trap of an area.

Does the car have Air Shocks? If so, check the rear shock crossmember welds to see if they are broken loose from the body. Every time you hit a bump, the body of the car is rising up off of the crossmember and then of course, it comes back down and makes one h**l of a bang. This is common and the result of using AIR SHOCKS.
With the car at rest, it will look like everything is fine but check closely or lift the BODY at the bumper not the axle to see if the crossmember is broken.

Try to identify about what size this thing is you are looking for. By your description you are looking for something small and in quantity. Could it be one thing rattling 10 times every time you hit a bump, or 10 things rattling once every time. Might sound stupid, but thinking along those lines might help you narrow it down. Can you get the noise simply be jouncing the car up and down hard, or shaking it by the roof line left and right? If that doesn't do it, try hitting the frame using a sledge lightly with a block of wood to cushion the blow. Go easy of course. I remember once I saw this thing (Mike's going to comment here I just know it.) called the vibrator, LOL. It sort of looked like a big fat bottle jack and was air powered (this is just too much ammo for Mike). You put it under the frame of the car and it rattled the car to find the noise. Maybe you could use an air chisel with a blunt nose and wood (easy Mike LOL)

I fixed the connection from the hard brake line to the rubber line. Found a old 1/4 inch s&k ratchet in the trunk extension.
Test drove it and its still there.
I removed the back seat. Upper and lower. The seat back tab on one side was broken.
Test drove again with no rear seat. Better.. Noise coming from pass 1/4 window regulator . Removed panel. The regulator is stripped out and the glass is wedged up. Been messed with... That's where I will put my efforts on fixing.
