Steering box... what the heck is it?
#11
That was fun Mike........... Now that you mention the coupler size difference between manual and power........ I knew that....... I just didn't think about it looking at you first post and pics. I'm shore that would have been helpful then. Now I know what the old guys mean when they say " I forgot more then you know"
If your friend Jack helped you off a horse....... Would you help your friend Jack off a horse?

If you are putting that on place of a manual box, the steering column won't be the right length. The manual box is shorter so the column is longer and vice versa

I believe it's just the shaft though, I think you can mix and match shaft and columns. Is that right?

Yup, it's just the shafts that are different lengths, the rest of the column is the same. I'm switching back to power steering, the racing days are over. I've got 2 67 columns here. One has the Flaming River adapter on it, the other one I just gotta put the power rag joint/coupler on when I can find it in my box of parts.

And Danny.. I know what you mean.. I've messed around with the power/manual conversion couple times now, and I had a completely bald headed blonde moment when I put that coupler on and it didn't fit.. I'm glad I don't have my garage wired to record sound, the rant once I thought I had carried that box from over by the turnpike to the grass parking lot by Gate 3 was pretty long.... don't think 1 word that came out of my mouth was able to be printed here
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

Race days are gone? Nothing to do with getting older...

Yep, Mike's other job keeps him WAY to busy these days for him to be racing!

Naw... I just want to get some fuzzy dice for the mirror, some crying babies for the bumper and put doo-wop on endless loop so I can enjoy my car Smile

No power steering, you need "Armstrong steering" to build those guns up!!!!!!!!!!!!
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!
