I always thought that was a dumb place to put a tachometer. I mean, you have to take your eyes off the road just to check your RPM's. Just sayin'.

The other feature that makes the original factory console mounted tachometers almost completely useless, is that they only read up to 6000 rpm's. Even back then a well built big block of any size could easily rev more than that. It just amazes me to see what folks try to sell these factory 1966 consoles for and PLEASE don't get me started on how this 1966 ONLY console is being advertised as an "OEM" part for 1966 and 1967 models! ing
