69 Coronet R/T rear bumper
#1
Hello,

The rear bumper on our 69 R/T needs to be re-chromed and I was wondering if I should
just buy a new one from Year One or some other supplier. The cost to re-chrome is close
to price of a new bumper. Does anyone have experience with the after market bumpers
regarding quality of finish and fit???

Thanks in advance,

My brand new AMD replacement bumper ('69 Coronet, rear) looks great EXCEPT for the quarter size blister in the chrome on one of the corners. I don't know how they missed this at the factory before shipping, nor do I understand how the installer could have overlooked it either. Regardless, it is now on my car and I am waiting on a warranty replacement (on back-order) from AMD. I will say the rep at AMD responded quickly and promises to make it right, but until I have a perfect bumper in my hands I won't be satisfied.

My personal opinion is that ORIGINAL parts are always better than aftermarket replacements. No matter what they claim, the replacements are seldom as good as, or identical to the originals in fit or function. Rechrome your original bumper if at all possible.

Re-chrome the one you already own.
