The GEAR VENDORS unit is very stout and pretty easy to install. To my knowledge there is not a BB/RB overdrive tranny that will bolt right in. Many have gone to a GM L-60-E and but an aftermarket bell that will bolt to your motor. This requires cutting off the factory bell and using longer bolts into the front pump.. Also requires adapting your shifter and kick-down and sending in your convertor to have it modified to fit.
So for the money I think the gear vendors unit is the best.. Also you can shift between gears using the OD unit.. Check: http://www.gearvendors.com/

an a500(light duty) or a518(heavy duty) are able to fit behind a big block with an adapter and a few other mods. the adapters are just under $500.
