I'm looking to make my 66 more driveable on interstate. What are all the choices? It is an auto right now 727. What have you done? Was it a good purchase? Any one looking to sell something they might have?
What rear gear ratio are you currently using?
3:55 is a good all around gear!!
3.23. But the speed limit on interstate is 70. That turning the motor at about 3200 non stop.
Another question, what is the over all height of your rear tires?
255/65/15. I thinks off hand
So I take it no one runs an overdrive. Well I'll keep looking.
I took my 1970 Challenger R/T over 150 MPH back in the day and it also had 3:23 rear gears. I honestly don't know if an overdrive is available for your application. If it is it might get pretty expensive IMHO. You could change your rear gears to something like a 2:76 or something like that but it would be a dog out of the hole.
I know that gear vendors works well. I know my car can do the rpms for shorter times. Just looking to save some wear and tear, and maybe some gas. I also know that american power train makes a kit to go stick with 5 sp tremec. Was just hoping to hear what else is out there.
There is a guy with a `67 R/T that show's up at the Fremont show out here, he has a GV/727 in there and loves it.
