Ebay Ad Rant!
#1
Do Ebay sellers who post ad's like the one below for whatever car you might own upset you all as much as they do me for the 1966 and 1967 B-Body cars? Rantinging

1966 Dodge Coronet Complete Dash Assy, Fits All 66-67 "B" Body Dodge or Plymouth

Ebay link to this action:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Dodge-Coron...2589e21392

Really? While it is technically possible to install any 1966, or 1967 complete dashboard assembly into any 1966, or 1967 "B-Body" car, NONE of them are interchangeable between the Dodge and Plymouth models and the instrument panels are not interchangeable between any of the 1966 and 1967 models due to the steering column assemblies having different diameters, which also means that other instrument panel parts are different between the 1966 and 1967 models! There is also almost nothing that is interchangeable between the Coronet and Belvedere models!

But just for giggles, let me list the various models and their part numbers for the metal instrument panel shells to see if ANY are interchangeable as this Ebay seller states. By the way, also please check out the Ebay provided "application chart" for this auction! WTF

1966 Dodge Coronet models, all body styles and all trim levels, with or without air conditioning - part number 2571354 (1966 factory parts book section number 23-33-109)
1966 Dodge Charger, with or without air conditioning - part number 2661512 (1966 factory parts book section number 23-33-109)
1966 Plymouth Belvedere models, all body styles and all trim levels, with or without air conditioning - part number 2571335 (1966 factory parts book section number 23-33-109)

Gosh, what do you know, no interchangeable part numbers so far.

1967 Dodge Coronet models, all body styles, all trim levels, with or without air conditioning - part number 2857306 (1967 factory parts book section number 23-33-109)
1967 Dodge Charger - there is no separate part number listing for the 1967 Chargers metal instrument panel, so I can't verify a part number for this car since I have very little experience with them personally, but I doubt that they are the same as used on the 1966 Chargers due to the differences in the steering column assemblies between all of the 1966 and 1967 Dodge and Plymouth B-Body models. 1967 Coronet and Charger instrument panels are also not interchangeable either due to the completely different instrument cluster assemblies.
1967 Plymouth Belvedere models, all body styles and all trim levels - part number 2857304 (1967 factory parts book section number 23-33-109)

Outside of not being able to verify the 1967 Charger instrument panel part number, do you folks see ANY of the 1966 and 1967 Dodge and Plymouth "B-Body" cars that have identical part numbers for this part?

Because I know that you all love pictures, here are some of the 1966 and 1967 Coronet, Charger and Belvedere models dash assemblies so that you can see the obvious differences.

1966 Coronet 500

1966 Charger (please notice the lower instrument cluster cut outs on this metal instrument panel shell that are not needed on the 1966 Coronet or Belvedere models)

1966 Belvedere II

1967 Coronet R/T

1967 Charger (once again, the 1967 Charger metal instrument panel shell has lower instrument cluster cut outs that the 1967 Coronet and Belvedere models do not have)

Sorry for the rant, but I just see these kinds of misleading ad's on Ebay and other similar sites time after time after time for the 1966 and 1967 B-Body cars and it just makes me angry that the Mopar community has to deal with these kinds of sellers who don't have a clue about the parts they are selling and even worse yet, most don't give a damn if their listings are correct or not.

The hawkers are all about money. Plain and simple, they couldn't give a rat's ass about anything else, correct or not. I buy and sell collector coins on eBay all the time and the very same thing exists in that hobby as well concerning false advertising. I gave up trying to report these issues with eBay as they don't respond after I send them a report outlining the problems or lies or falsehoods. I still email the sellers from time to time telling them they are wrong and I can prove they are but most plainly ignore me or tell me where I can stuff my complaint. Ebay is a mine field, I hate it so much but it is the only game in town when trying to sell collector coins to a mass audience around the world. A seller can't even give a bad buyer a negative feedback any more, how crazy is that?!! Say some jerk 'buys' the coin, I send it to the jerk but the jerk responds that the coin did not arrive and now wants his money back and I am obliged to re-imburse the jerk so now the jerk gets to keep the coin and his money! I am out substantially, possibly garnering a negative feedback as a result so now I am the victim and there is no recourse. Any time I send a coin out to a buyer I send it using an expedited mail service WITH receiving signature required that I get an email confirmation for showing the buyer's signature. This way I and eBay know he got his merchandise. So many prblems with eBay and the fees just keep going UP! They also own Paypal and really frown upon a buyer sending payment using any other than paypal because they don't don't get their pound of flesh with the transaction. Scam-bay, fee-bay and other anacronyms properly denote the true nature of their so called 'friendly place to do business'. Ranting over, now back to sir Richard the music guru of our site.
