Mexican 67 Coronet for sale in San Diego
#1
Its been a while since we've discussed these, so heres another 67 Mexican Coronet 440 for sale. Again, the unique side trim, the Charger grille, unique interior trim, and the unique "Coronet" trunk emblem is visible where a "500" or "RT" emblem is seen on US models with that trunk finish panel. That wheel trim might be factory correct for a Mexican 67 Coronet, but I'm not sure. Those wheels do look a lot like Chevy rally wheels.
Someone over on the For C Bodies Only forum posted a link to this ad. Other than the after market side lights, this car looks pretty original. This is NOT mine.

Meanwhile, heres a couple Mexican built 67 Coronet440 2 door hardtops currently for sale in Mexico on Autoclassico.

The below is the brochure cover for the 67 Coronet in Mexico. The 2 door hardtop was only available in the 440 series. The round emblem on the fender identifies this one as having the 318 under the hood (the largest engine available on a Mexican built 67 Coronet). The 4 door sedan was available in both the 440 series and the 500 series. Except for having the Charger grille, the Mexican 67 500 exterior trim was the same as the US 500 side trim.

Looks like SE interior also, and even has Charger like top fender trim. They had to make that special for the rear half of the car.

Thank Jim, maybe it will be at Spring Fling ?? I remember one there once and even stuff under hood like washer bottle

Heres another factory photo of a 67 Mexican Coronet. Interestingly, this one shows fender skirts.

Love the grille - the US versions should have been built that way.

I would like to know the story on how they ended up putting Charger grill's and bumper's on there. Surplus from the states?

They ordered 10,000 Coronet grill's and got 10,000 Charger grill's by accident LOL "Eh look Homer dem kooky American's screwed up again, I kinda like dese chiney grill's better, I won't tell if you don't"

The product planners likely cherry picked the available parts that would fit based on the Coronet being the top of the line of all the Mexican built Mopars. Using the 500/RT trunk finish panel and tail lights along with the Charger grille gave it an expensive appearance. Keep in mind that the interiors were nicer than the US versions of the same cars.
