All 318's in 67 were 2 bbl. When they finally did put a 4bbl on the 318 in the 80's it was for emissions rather than performance. The carb would get a stronger 'signal' on the primaries where it lived most of the time. Yes I know there were 4 bbl and even dual 4 bbl 318's earlier but these were not "LA" engines.

Take a look at the MSD distributor they used for the build - GM style mechanical advance with a Ford style reluctor and pickup.

I have a single wire with the brain built in, electronic, that will be going in mine. Along side with a hot fireing coil, both aftermarket. Came from a race shop in Tennessee that makes their own aluminium castings, heads etc...

Well the fun has begun. Got some new shop toys, Cherry picker & engine stand. Had a friend donate a 318, for the cause. It is freed up but haven't ever heard it run. Found a knock off air gap intake and a 1", 4 hole, tapered carb spacer, and my wish list has some KB, .40 over 167's and a comp cam kit, on it. Just need to get a couple of bills paid first. Trying to decide on heads, as well! I found some bare aluminum heads, set up for 202 valves, that I can get both for just a tad over the price of 1 Eldelbrock bare head, no porting needed. My other option is some smog control 360 heads, and having to port and set up for 202's??? My plan is to get one built while I drive the crap out of the old one! I got a really good machine guy, as well. He's got a few motors in the Street Outlaws series, on tv!
