Six Pack Linkage with tti headers
#1
I need to figure out how to run the kickdown linkage on my '68 Charger with 2" tti headers (440), I know there are modifications needed for a single carb, however from the pictures it looks as the six pack linkage is in a different position and different length.

Not sure if I should go cable(which I have) or buy a repop linkage wanted to see what others have done before I start spending money testing things out.(or if there is any modification needed)

This'll fix it easy

MANUAL VALVE BODY
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

i thought about that...the cable is tight under there(chettah shifter) and already started to melt...Im worried the extra movement is going to shorten its life

440's with a manual valve body equipped automatic is as close to having a manual transmission as you're going to get without actually installing a manual transmission. Most all of the fun of a manual transmission without all of the required footwork and you can give the middle finger salute to all of the factory kick down linkage.

Are manual valve body equipped automatic transmissions fun? ABSOLUTELY Kevin! By the way, the pictures of my Coronet shown below were taken back in 1991 and that same manual valve body equipped transmission is still in place in my car today and it has given me zero issues after being raced hard from 1991 through 1997 and street duty after that. I'm not running headers, but I am running a 3" exhaust system and my B&M shift cable has never been replaced since it was also installed in 1991.

I could agree with that Richard, the cable is tight under there and it makes the shifting tight as well, it doesn't feel natural but not many routes for the cable to take.

As long as you're happy with the operation of the shifter and the shifter cable it's all good Kevin, but I tried to keep the length of the shifter cable on my B&M Quicksilver shifter as short as possible to avoid any possible kinks, but then again I'm also not running headers like you are, but I am running 3" pipes.

It also looks as if you're going to have a lot of additional shifter movements to go from gear to gear than I have on my Quicksilver shifter which may become a bit irritating after awhile if the car will be street driven much.

The '65 Plymouth Belvedere's and Satellite's are one of my all time favorite Mopars! I was looking for one back in 1989 before I found my '66 Coronet 500 but I couldn't find one as you just don't see many '65's here in Phoenix. Looks as if yours is in very nice condition! Please keep us updated on your progress on this car.
