As an update to my previous post, below is a picture of a 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T sales brochure that shows both the upper "Horizontal Accent Stripes" aka pin stripes and what probably is the lower "Horizontal Sport Stripes" that show only available in Black as they are on the R/T in the sales brochure. I have never seen this lower Sports stripe on any 1967 Coronet in person, or online, so it must be very rare indeed.

I too have never seen that lower stripe in person or pics. Reminds me of a Mustang stripe. Wonder if that was a dealer installed option? There is another brochure pic (red car/white stripe) that shows the pinstripe on the lower character line of the body just like the upper. Looks good to me but another I've never seen in person.
Hi again!!

Is the Horizontal Accent Stripe a 3+1 mm or a 2+2 mm stripe? how much was the option cost?

Found several different placing off the upper stripe ....7917]7918]

On the White car the stripe is more to the upper body line (looks like 3+1)
The red car - the stripe sits more closer to the "lower" body line (looks like 2+2) - more similar to your brochure Picture

If I will assemble a stripe I think I will go for the brochure placing...should be more correct - or what is your opinion Richard?

Our originals which to me is correct. These were gone over when we bought the car which is why you'll notice the color variances. Also note right and left fender tips are shaped different.

I've seen 2 cars with the lower body stripe, one car was a copper colored one with black stripes and a red one also with black lower stripes, very, very rare!

A friend did this to mine on his computer
he made the stripes also, but I still can't decide to put them on or not.
Tanx for your pics 67RTBlue and 67r/t4speeder!!

- looks more like 3+1

rather then the white stripe 2+2 (red car)

Do you folks think the stripes varies a lot?

No prices ?? for the thin - Horizontal Accent Stripe for 66

The lower bold for 67 must be much more expensive..

(For my Mustang 68 it was a 13,9$ option - Accent Paint Stripe, thin single 3mm stripe)

Anyway ... Interesting thread :-)

67RTBlues stripes do look factory correct and are the same as all of the other 1966 and 1967 Coronets I've seen with these factory applied stripes. I will also say that I don't see these stripes on as many 1966 Coronets as I do 1967's.

As far as that lower "Sport Stripe", it was only offered in Black according to my source books. Any other color you might see for this style stripe would be a custom made stripe, not a factory original stripe.

Oki .. I think I will buy and test a black 3+1 mm stripe to my Coronet 66 -see how it looks
(Want to enhance the small coke bottle design on the rear fender...)

Thanks to all so far..... but keep writing!!

Andy,

I hate to say this about the Dodge Coronet lower rocker "Sport Stripe", but if you look at the Coronet R/T sales brochure and the 1966 Shelby Mustang below, the two stripes look VERY similar to me. With that being said, I do like that style stripe on both the Coronets and the Mustangs.
