You know Andy, any time ANYTHING bad happens in CA I'm worrying about my son Rick, you, Lauri, Shorty and all of your family! I am VERY relieved to hear that as of now you are all safe and sound.

Thank you very much Buddy, I have to tell you though we had to put Shorty down, she had a wonderful long life and made everyone Smile. Old age caught up to here and was in much pain at the end. RIP Shorty
I’m so sorry to hear about shorty.

My heart is broken for you and Lauri my friend, 2018 has been an extremely difficult year for both of us that way Andy, as Rosie and I also had to put down our beloved Kita this past January 12th due to cancer. A part of me also died that day that will not heal until we are reunited someday in a much better place. She was a constant companion for me as Shorty was for you and Lauri.

On the positive side of things, both Shorty and Kita have passed over the "Rainbow Bridge" and are now pain free and waiting for us to join them someday.

Richard

"Rainbow Bridge"

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. bright eyes are intent.
His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Very well written Richard! Shorty was such a great pup as I'm sure Kita was. I'm kinda new to having a pup in my adult life and I must say I already couldn't imagine what that pain is going to feel like. I just hope I get as many great memories with my Zeus as you guys got with Short and Kita.

They truly are mans best friend aren't they?

Absolutely Lance.

Kita was never ever thought of as a pet by Rosie and I. She was a family member. I use to tell people that I have a two legged son (Rick) and a four legged daughter (Kita). Please give Zeus a huge huge for both Andy and I tonight ok my friend?

Sorry for your losses Richard and Andy. Our Satchel is 14 and we dread the day she has to leave us.

Thank you very much Mark and all I can say is to give your Satchel as much love as possible for as long as you can. Their one purpose in life is to love their people and they take that task very seriously. Our Kita was 13 and also had a wonderful life. It's a true shame that they arn't able to live as long as we do.

I'm so sorry for your losses Richard and Andy. I've been through losing a few myself...it's NOT easy. I have a cat now, and I can tell you it's the same.

Are you planning on adopting another 4 legged family member?
