We lost a friend tonight
#1
The DCR lost a friend tonite, and I lost a great friend.

Richard Kane II aka TheBankersToy passed away early this evening (12/8/22) at the age of 67 after a short illness. Those of you that have been lucky enough to meet Richard in person realized very quickly he was a extremely nice guy and would do anything he could to help if he could. Even those he had never met, he did what he could to find correct part numbers for cars with his parts books or to help someone having an issue with their car if he could. I had the honor of meeting him a few years ago when he asked me to change the camshaft in his car to make it more streetable. A lover of all muscle cars from Mustangs to Camaro's, and despite owning a Hemi Cuda and a fully restored 70 Charger, his favorite was the bastard stepchild of the Mopar world, the 66-7 Coronet. He raced it all over the southwst until diabetes took his eyesight away and he had to turn in his license.

Rchard met the love of his life Rosie when he was young, and they were together til the end. Once he could no longer race, he turned his passion towards diecast cars. Not just diecast cars you buy in Target but true, limited run cars, and maintained a meticulous database of them. His other passions were music as evident by his own section on the board, and getting defroster ducts made for 66-6 B-bodies, an endeavour that eventually came to fruition.

Richard will truly be missed by many. His forum will be locked to preserve it in his memory minus 1 more post.

I will post his obitiuary once I get it. There will be no services according to his wife, he wanted it this way and she is abiding by his wishes.

Love you buddy, I will miss you immensely.

Mike

He is going to be missed here, I would pop in to his forum and discover new music (sometimes new old music) I never heard of. I never was able to meet him in person, however we chatted via the forums for years. Especially in the early days, we have some things close in common with what we both did for work. He was so kind, and a wealth of knowledge. God Speed Richard.

I first hear this bad news on Facebook, never met the man in person but considered him a friend.
If a man speaks while in his garage and his wife does not hear it, is he still wrong?

A donation was made to the Phoenix Police Foundation by the DCR on behalf of everyone here in Richard's name. He was a staunch supporter of police, fire and military, and as Rosie works for Phoenix PD we felt it was a fitting place to make a donation.

We feel so blessed with Richard and Rosie to have taken time to visit Lauri and I at the original Troxellsgarage.
Ever since then I knew they are real nice people.
Richard was loved by us all even when I wondered about some of the choices of music he had ( I do remember poking at him in fun) , he wanted to share it all.
GOD speed Richard
We love you Rosie you rock too.
