Calling on you friends for help, my long time favorite car is giving me fits and I an looking for help in figuring it out. 1969 Coronet with direct connection electronic ignition conversion is experiencing a no spark situation on cranking and will not fire. what is the best way to diagnose orange box or the pick up in the distributor. I am lost and need to get this car to start. any advise would be greatly appreciated . I know you folks can help me fix this,. I checked with the local dodge dealer where I bought this kit from and was told the parts are no longer available.
Unplug the wires from both sides of the balist resistor. Take a short piece of wire and connect the two wires you just disconnected. Try starting the car if it starts you need a new balist resistor. This would be the first thing I would do if this happened to me.
i checked both sides for power with a test light and was good ,should i still try that? when i turn the key to start the starter engages but when i let off and return the key to the off position the car farts out the carb like it wants to fire thenWTF
rotor is turning counterclockwise and block is grounded, tried a known good box and even put in a new pickup in distributer. going to the liquor store now i'm thirsty
air gap .008 was actually pre set but i checked any way, tried a different coil wire , ready to try a different coil or cap and rotor or start checking wires with a continuity tester. think wiring might be my best option
well this will be a short thread ,after triple checking everything under the hood , I decided the problem must be under the dash , and to my surprise after owning this car over thirty five years one of the previous owners modified the ignition wiring probably for a kill switch . I put power to that wire and she fired right up. R/T BACK UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
