I know the answer to this but I am going to complain anyway!
Why is it that the 69 1/2 air cleaner base plates are soooo much money?
The cheapest I saw was 1,300.00!! It is cheaper to buy any other full set-up than to just but this!
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and pay the price for it.

Hmmm I don't know how to respond to that. Some things are better than others. For example real actual original never molested pieces of history are worth waaaay more than reproduction pieces that will never be the real thing.

Certain pieces on certain cars command big money and 69 1/2 M code cars are LOW production!
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!

Yup, I know the reasons and if me as a consumer wants a specific or specialty item it's going to cost a lot of money. If it was and original it would probably cost me $3500.00

Same thing 66-7 owners go thru for grille surrounds, or 67 440/Deluxe owners do for tail lights in good shape..
Sad thing is, you go to a car show, and 99% of the people that look at the car would never know the difference between the 69 1/2 one and one from any other year..
I love Mopars so much I'm date coding the skid marks in my underwear.

Any idea on what 1967 Deluxe n.o.s. tail light lenses are worth? Asking for a friend.

Dunno about NOS, but do know someone that paid $300 for a set of good ones with no cracks or pitting of the chrome.

I bought a pair of NOS ones for $35 for the pair. Of course that was around 1990................
