need brake advice... how hard to switch from manual disc brakes to power brakes??
#1
I have a 67 coronet that was factory drum brakes all around...sometime ago someone added front disc brakes off of A-body I think, but still left them manual. not a huge deal but someone in my area local has a power brake set up off of his 67 belvedere for sale. master cylinder, power booster, lines, rod, and back plate for firewall.
will all this interchange on my coronet with no issues? what will be needed? will work? wont work?

thanks for any advice.....
or do I leave it manual disc and just put a new manual master cylinder on it and forget about it.....
thanks.
Do you have good vacuum to supply booster? that's what I would check first, then how do your brakes work now?

my brakes work just "OK" now. but im in process of putting a 5.7 hemi with a small cam in it...and im going to upgrade my brakes, front brake lines, proportional valve etc...while I got motor out.
and this set up kinda just fell in my lap but don't know if its worth all the trouble to change over or not.

My '66 Coronet goes 10.50's @ 126 MPH and has the same manual disc setup your car has - I have no trouble stopping it.

I use the factory manual disc master cylinder from a '73 A-body and proportioning valve. If you think about it Power Assisted Brakes just makes it easier for the driver to stop the car via less pedal pressure. It does nothing to enhance the effectivness of the brakes to stop the car. My buddy has a '66 Belvedire with high dollar Willwood discs using a GM master. The brakes are horrible IMO and the pedal is spongy. My car has a nice firm pedal . . . the way it should be. The factory stuff is very well engineered, the only drawback is the weight of the components.

If you have the correct matched components you will be fine.
