Not hardly too much rpm. Tops out around 5300 rpm (very small cam). Harland Sharp rockers - no idea why 2 of the adjusters loosened up. And the million dollar question is how on earth did it happen at the same time - or did it?

Dodged a major bullet. No real damage that I see so far. One of the push rod cups is slightly banged up - will replace it. Pushrods were not even bent.

I had that happen the first time I took my dart out(almost) I guess I forgot to tighten the rocker shaft on one side and it got bent allowing 2 of the lifters to come out resulting in no oil pressure. I drove it a mile home and parked it. this was 2 days before Carlisle in 2006. I drove my coronet to Carlisle that year and when I got home I took the 400 in the dart apart. all I did was replace the shaft(making sure I tightened it this time) and put everything back together. its been fine since then.

Well picture is getting clearer. Found several issues that were the builder's fault. Won't mention who it is because I still have a lot of faith in him. I should of also not allowed some of the issues - I knew of some of them when I picked the motor up.

What I do know is that it looks like the preload was not properly set, and is inconsistent. The push rods are too short and the adjuster studs are not protruding thru the nut (not a good situation for keeping the nuts tight).

Plan is I am sending my Crane ductile iron rockers to RAS to have brass bushings installed. They will also banana groove the shafts. The builder will send me a new set of pushrods once I figure out the correct length for the Crane rockers.

I expected the car to go 13.75 in good weather. Friday it went 14.19 (fastest run ever) on the last run. Will be interesting to see what it runs when the valves open and close properly. In a very quick inspection found an exhaust rocker not only did not have preload, but had 0.040 lash!
