Tech Archive Storage Forum?
#1
Hello Kevin and Mike,

Would it be possible to start a special forum to store Coronet related technical information that some of us have posted in various threads? Maybe it could be broken down into the following sub categories?

Engine
Transmission
Suspension - front and rear
Wheels and tires
Electrical
Body and trim
Interior

That way members would have a specific place to find answers to their tech questions quicker and those who answer those types of questions could avoid having to repost the same basic information each time a similar question on a topic is asked.

To keep this type of forum uncluttered and to the point, it could be set-up like the "for sale" and "wanted" forums are with no member posting allowed on each thread, just a place to look up information on specific topics and only you two would make the decisions on which posts would be stored in this area. To also help keep this new forum uncluttered, the only posts that would be stored in this new forum, would be the posts which include the technical information, not any of the follow up posts.

As an example, Andy's excellent tip for removing lower control arm bushings could be stored in the "Suspension - front and rear" sub category of this new forum and then members who need this information six months from now don't have to try and remember where they saw it.

Removing lower control arm bushings
Weld a washer in the old outer sleeve of the bushing after the rubber has been removed, not too hot on the welder though. This gives you something to press on to get it out with out chiseling and torching.
Example number two would be something like the torsion bar specifications that I posted for you Mike, which could also be stored in the "Suspension - front and Rear" sub category.

As always Kevin and Mike, thank you very much for your time and feedback.

I agree Steve and as an additional added bonus, a forum of this type could bring in many new prospective members when they are doing on-line searches for information on various topics and this new DCR forum is included in their search options. I have seen this happen on the music forums that I do here on the DCR and on another Mopar forum and another example would be a 1966-67 B-Body parts information forum that I do on another Mopar web site which has had well over 22 thousand views since I started it back in 2009, so I believe that this kind of traffic could happen here on this new DCR forum as well.

Steve,

Basically it will mean that the DCR will be more like Superman than the mild mannered Clark Kent.

Kevin,

Isn't this the new IBM Linux based system? Is the need for donations to help cover the up front costs for switching over to the new system, or to help cover monthly maintenance costs, or both? Big Grin

Dang Kevin, that's just a bit out of my yearly DCR donation budget my friend, but man, the DCR would be the coolest Mopar web site on the planet wouldn't it? Wait a minuet, the DCR already IS the coolest Mopar web site on the planet! Big Grin
