I'm not able to help you with the air cleaner for your car, but here's an option for the Parts Manual. They also have an original copy of the 1950 Parts Book, but it's over $250.00, so I didn't think you'd be interested in that. The reprint will do the same job and at $69.00, is very affordable. They do not list this particular Parts Book in a CD format, so the printed book format looks to be the best choice for you.

You're very welcome and I'm pretty sure that the price quoted is for both volumes, but you can verify that tomorrow when you contact them. They are licensed by Chrysler to reproduce and sell this material and I've also been doing business with them for years now, so I think that you'll enjoy doing business with them as well. The other cool thing about this particular parts book, is that you will be able to see how many of the 1950's parts from your car might be interchangeable with some of the other model years that are covered in this multi year parts book. Wink They also offer owners manuals for your car and factory service manuals if the one you have isn't an original Chrysler based manual.

Please check back in here and let me know if you enjoyed your experience with Faxon ok?

My shop manual is a factory authorized reproduction of the original. Got off e-bay from a link provided by another forum member! It has proven very helpfull but I would like a more indepth description of components witch I hope to get in the parts catalog!

Part descriptions you will find in a factory parts book, but unless the 1950's style parts books are any different from all of the ones that I have and use from the 1960's and 1970's, you won't get highly detailed descriptions of each part, because there are just too many of them to do that.

As an example, below is a random page out of my 1966 factory parts book that I have saved in my computer files. As you can see, descriptions are short and sweet and many different codes are used in order to save on text and to avoid repeating the same word in the description. There is a learning curve with the factory parts books to learn what all of the codes mean, but once you do, you will be amazed how helpful these parts books, as well as your factory service manual can be! Wink

Thanks Richard, I had hoped it woul be more descriptive. I will probably just stick with my shop manual for now! Not in any rush, can't work on the car right now any way. I had knee surgery on Wed. so I am reading through my manual to get familiarized with all the areas I plan to do work. I just wish I could find an original air cleaner or even a non oil bath after market upgrade! These old cars are hard to shop for! I think I found a local yard that might have a few 50's coronets, hoping they have an air cleaner!

I hope that you will reconsider, because the factory parts book for your car would be extremely helpful to you in finding parts for your car, such as the air cleaner that you need. There are several dealers around the country and in Canada that sell n.o.s. (new old stock) parts, but unless you know the correct part number for the parts that you need, you won't know if the parts you might find are correct for your application or not. This also comes in REALLY handy when you see parts on Ebay and other on-line sites, because with a parts book in hand, you can contact the seller and verify the part numbers that they have for sale BEFORE you make the purchase to make sure that what you're purchasing is really what you need. I have saved lots of money over the years by using this method and avoiding purchasing incorrect parts. Please trust me, the money that you spend on a factory service manual and a factory parts book will be the best money you will ever spend on your car.

Sorry to hear about your knee, but hopefully you will recover very soon and will be back out working on your Dodge again! Wink
