I finally attained success in re-registering. I was a member, somewhat inactive, in this site for quite a while. I have retired, again, and am not traveling for work anymore, so I have more time for the "old car" hobby. I have a '68 Super Bee, restored about 12 years ago, bought it new from a car dealer in Chicago. This car is about 99% original. As soon as I figure out just how to do it, I'll put some pictures on. I'm looking forward to reading what others are doing with their cars, problem resolutions, about hard to find parts, and just learning about old MOPARS.

Thanks Gents! When the we bought the Super Bee in '68, they, at least this one, came with 2ply sidewall, light, F70/14 wide oval tires. I had never driven a car that would break the rear tires loose with just a light touch of the gas pedal. We were driving to one of the western suburbs near O'Hare airport, so I suppose we were on the JFK.............you Chicago guys correct me if I'm wrong. Some older gentleman was running about 50 and I wanted to go around, I got a break, hit the gas and the engine revved up, the ass end wiggled a bit, but I did not accelerate enough to get around the slower car. My wife mentioned that she had seen what looked like smoke behind us. I looked the gauges over, saw nothing wrong there, the car seemed to be driving OK, so I hit it again. When it shifted into 2nd gear from 50mph, it was spinning the tires, not what I wanted to do on the interstate. I bought new Goodyear Polyglass wideovals about a week later. I'll think of other stories, try to keep you entertained!

No, not really. I was interested in a pickup. My wife wasn't. I talked to a friend, who was more up on cars than I was, about who might make a car with a stiff suspension and decent sized engine. He took me to a Dodge dealer (North Cicero Dodge) now defunct and we saw two Bees, a green one with 4speed, and this one with 727. We decided that the auto was probably better for us long term and bought it. I put a trailer hitch on it and we pulled a 10 ft. U-Haul out of Chicago. On a crisp Nov. morning we headed for western Nebraska. We did not try to set any speed records, but we had no problems and the car handled the trailer just fine. We used the car for our family ride for the next 13 or so years. Had some fun with it at times.
