1950 Interchangeability Questions
#1
I asked a similar question before on the old Forum and can't really recall what the answer was so I thought I'd repost. I have a friend who has some parts he is getting rid of and we're trying to figure out if they will fit my 4 door 1950 Coronet. I am not near my Coronet at the moment so any of you who have a 4 door '50 could probably help with these. My friend isn't sure if the doors, fenders, hood etc are from a Dodge or a DeSoto and I don't think they interchange as they may be slightly different. Can someone tell me what the sizes are on the 1950 Coronet doors are (width and length should do)?
Thanks,
Mike

The rear door shell for the 50 to 52 4 door Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler all have the same part number. 1439 259 for right and 1371 604 for the left. "Panel, Quarter outisde" on Dodge and DeSoto for 50 on a 4 door are the same. Left 15212 175, right 1521 174. When I look up Rear Fenders they give different part numbers between the Dodge & DeSoto. I can't explain that. Hoods are different in 1950. Front fenders are also different between the models.

Thanks 48mirage. Do you have anything on the front doors for a 4 Door car? I would imagine if the rears are the same, the fronts would be too?

What is the reference book you are using 48mirage that has this fantastic information?

Thanks 48mirage. I saw some of those reprints on ebay last night. Apparently they must have made some changes to them . The description said it was ninetysomething pages and they were about $30. I like the link too.

My book is about as thick as a Chicago phone book. Section 23 that covers "Body" is 196 pages.

Wow! That's definitely not what they were showing where I was looking. I do like that link though.
