ADVANCE- Mechanical vs Vacuumn

Forgive me as I'm a body guy. When the motor went together in our car I relied on couple guys that have been around Mopars all their life to put the motor together and run it in. The guy that ran the motor for me on a stand disabled the vacuum advance and set the curve and all the mechanical way. Is this the preferred way on a street cruiser? Motor is basically a stock rebuild with headers, little bigger cam, Edelbrock CH4B intake and 750 Eddy. I ask because for the most part the car runs alright but when I slowly lean into it on a roll it seems to kinda hesitate. If I floor it on a roll it will almost cut for a second before downshifting and taking off. It will pull good under wide open throttle.
My main question is should I have the vacuum advance hooked back up??

For street cruising the vacuum advance should always be functional. It's not needed at idle or WOT but at part throttle cruise with high vacuum and no load, without vacuum advance the engine is seeing unburnt fuel wash down the cylinder walls, polluting the oil and leading to shorter engine life.

Your fuel mileage will improve if you run the vacuum advance.
