WIW - 67 440 HP complete engine
#1
I have a 67 R/T with a 383 and am looking to put a date correct engine back in and I have a line on a 67 440 HP motor that was special ordered for a Chrysler New Yorker and pulled out back in the early 70s with around 40k on it and has been stored in a garage by the owner since then. It is complete less the passenger side exhaust manifold. It is about 2 hours from my house but I haven't seen it yet. Was told that it turns over by hand. I am trying to work out time to get there, but don't know when I will be able to swing it before the holidays. This is my first Mopar, which I bought for me and my dad to enjoy, so I have little experience with pricing, especially full engines. From what I have seen, I think it is a good price for what he is asking and I'm trying to see if I need to try to move on it. Even if it needs a full rebuild, as long as it turns over, any suggestions on what would it be worth? Also, any estimates on the cost on an engine rebuild? Thanks for the help guys. Paul

Get lots of pics , sounds exciting . I wouldn't offer anything yet tell you verify what it is for sure. If dates are close for your car that would be great for sure.
$ 800 bucks around here would be about going rate

Thanks for the reply. Lots of pics is the plan. My dad will be going with me as well, so big help on the mechanical side, but he doesn't know prices. I will post here once I get some pics. $800, is that for the motor or rebuild?

Just the parts , no rebuild . rebuild is another whole deal so be prepared to have a budget in mind so your not overwhelmed

67, So about $800 for parts, plus motor cost, plus rebuild (machining and labor?). I have no clue on a budget so I am trying to establish one. I think I can swing it, but would at least like to have a ball park of the costs. Any input on the rebuild costs?
