Last night leaving home I noticed my personal toy ('96 Corvette Grand Sport) had popped its hatch glass under the car cover. Well I pulled the cover back to check things. This has happened before when the battery died the car "wigs out" and the hatch popped open. Well upon cover removal I notice some brown liquid spots on the paint. Looking closer I notice some mouse turds. Well... The little prick made it INSIDE my car. Droppings all over the hatch, under the seats, across the cowl. He nibbled a burrow into some car wash towels I had in the hatch. I removed all personals and looked things over GOOD. I didn't see anywhere he chewed on the seats or insulation. Seems like he liked just the hatch area. I vacuumed all droppings and wiped down the interior-GROSS! Off to the hardware store and bought one of each remedy-traps of two different designs, glue traps and poison bait. Peanut butter was the treat and I placed the traps inside the car. Put the glue traps under the hood and couple on the garage floor.
This morning the trap under the hood got him. Gonna leave the rest just in case word got out about a nice warm place to spend the winter. Never had a problem in 7 years till now.
Sorry bud but my car is more important!

Here's a trick I've used for catching mice.

I've found the regular spring traps work best, especially if a mice only gets caught on the front, and can move around. That sticky glue stuff is hard to remove from things.

Pack the area where the mouse nibbles on with peanut butter, especially inside. Just doing it on the outside may let the mouse just grab the peanut butter off it.

When the mouse gets trapped in a spring trap, look at the packed in peanut butter. If it's gone, you most likely have caught the last one. If it's not gone, his buddies have stopped by for a snack. (and now know where to go for food, so catching them is easier). If there is still peanut butter left, then you can be pretty assured they are all caught

Had a rat live inside the engine compartment of a Honda Pilot. Ate through the wiring harness. My wife was driving on the freeway and idiot lights started popping on. Never found the little bastard. I know it was a rat because I saw my cat bring it into the garage and drop it, started a week long mission to exterminate the little bastard. He won.
