Production numbers/ colors

Like the following chart states 1533 Coronet Convertible with 318 auto were built

But - is there a source who could tell how many of these 1533 had my color : Yellow..???

1) thanks for visiting my site. I did the grid. The correct interpretation of the number listed is "approximately XXXX were built for sale in the US". Exact numbers of cars built are unknown. That figure, likely does not account for cars sold in Canada or overseas. the final production number is probably higher than listed.
2) no...colors are not listed on the options and accessories reports until 1970. I do not think anything before 1970 is available or has been published.

Hmm ....Get the idea that they often use my color : Yellow (almost like a kind of fashion color in the Days)


Seen name as Dafodil yellow - (I think that name was for Chrysler) - but Bright yellow or just yellow for Dodge cars - Which of those are the correct name ??

Was this color (understand it was only available for 66-67) painted on a lot of cars..?

Now when I google Coronet 66 ... there are almost none in that color - every other colors but yellow

Was this color (understand it was only available for 66-67) painted on a lot of cars..? Again, there is no way to know how many cars received this color.

Now when I google Coronet 66 ... there are almost none in that color - every other colors but yellow There is no way to know the original color of the car without some sort of documentation. All, most, some or none of the cars you found pictures of could be in their original color.

Can someone just give their personal opinion/thoughts on the subject. Unless complete and detailed factory production records surface, you will never be able to know all the production details, including what percentage of cars came in what color, for 1966 model year.

A 'registry' of some sort has been discussed for a LOOOONNNNG time. (At least since I've been around and that's going on 14(?) years...)

While it would be a great thing to have, there are certain logistical items that have never been resolved. Setting up a nameplate (Coronet) registry is certainly different than a one year ('69 Charger) or package car (A12, TA/AAR, Wing car) registry as they are one year only data bases and a finite number of cars for that package.

Who will manage the data initially and over time? (this will take a large time factor and long term commitment) One person? Multiple people?
Where will the data be hosted?
Who will have administrative rights?
What data will be tracked?
What data will be posted for public viewing?
What data will be kept private?
How many years will be included?
What years will be included?
How will the data be acquired?
Will that data that is acquired be useful in some way?
How or can the data be sorted? (involves tweaking the website and expertise in setting up the data base. Who will do this? How long will it take?)

Ok, here's the deal. There have been a couple attempts at making a registry here. I've heard of one existing, but it pre-dates me (11yrs or so.. )

Neither Kevin nor I are web developers or database programmers. (I can build and maintain them in my sleep, but ask me to program one? Better chance of seeing Max doing a smokey holeshot.

So Kevin has to find someone to do it (as much as you folks see me here, Kevin owns the place and handles the registry side of things) So money is the big factor in it. A couple of former members have tried to build it, one found it was beyond their abilities. Another was a "web developer", who once had the money in hand was never heard from again (it was quite a chunk of change).

This is even before we get to what Doug mentions above.. One big point is proving the validity of people's claims. Anyone could send a email, say "It's a 67 Coronet 4 door convertible, all original with factory Hemi 6 pack and 3 on the tree" We all know Chrysler did some crazy stuff back in the day, so how can we prove what is right and wrong?

Now lets get down to the legal factor of a "registry" Someone looks in the registry, and sees a car they are interested in is a 1 of 2 made in their combination. They buy it for a dollar amount that makes unobtanium look cheap, only to find out after the fact it's a 1 of 10,000 run and worth the same as my rustbucket. Can Kevin get dragged into court? Dunno.. definetely require lawyer to a$$e$ the risk..
