`67 grill surround alert
#41
In reality, I don't think a vendor could ever recoup their costs for reproducing 67 grill surrounds. How many have seen the run of 67 hood moldings that Metro ran? In my opinion they were junk because they were extruded. But it was much cheaper to do it that way than do correctly.

Also in reality there are still plenty of cores out there and in the right hands they are almost as good as new and would be cheaper to restore than reproduce. I have 2 sets restored by Alltrim and all they need is some better paint. I also have an excellent core on the street car and several core that I will be soon pedaling.

I will simply agree to disagree with you Mark.

Vendors have reproduced 1969 and 1970 Road Runner front grille assemblies, as well as 1970 and 1971 Barracuda front grille assemblies and those are all one year only applications and all four assemblies are very nicely done, so it can be and has been done.

The reason that more 1966 and 1967 Coronet parts haven't been reproduced is because we as a collective group are not seen by vendors as a group of owners that will purchase reproduction parts such as E-Body and later 1968-1970 B-Body owners are, so they are not going to pay for high dollar tooling costs to make parts that will sit on their shelves.

On the other side of that argument and I have spoken many times to various vendors about this, is the fact that they have done very little if any market research to find out which parts 1966 and 1967 Coronet owners really need and would purchase if offered, so it's a problem on both sides of the fence.

I believe that the only way that we will ever get the 1966 and 1967 Coronet parts reproduced that we really want and need is to continue to ask vendors as a large group of owners rather than having just a few keeping the pressure on. It's easy for vendors to ignore a small number of people, but not nearly as easy to ignore a larger group of folks. If 1966 and 1967 Coronet owners aren't willing to put the work in to get something done, then they should just stop complaining and use whatever used parts they can scrounge up and be happy.

Its a defective POS! Did you see that tear? I wouldn't buy it...............

I sold 5 cores at the Nats for total of $200. Some were better than others. I've got 2 sets restored by AllTrim before he closed. Great cores on my daughter's car. So I'm set.
