Ok. I need someones help. I have a brand new six pack set up with a brand new choke. I also have a new valley pan with the heat risers blocked off. The issue I am having is that the choke isn't getting hot enough to close. Does anyone have a remedy to this or experience with this issue?

Check the bottom side of the choke coil. I believe there is a nut for coil tension adjustment. The nut holds the bi-metalic spring to the manifold bracket. There is a fine line with the adjustment. If the coil is too tight it will take forever to open. (Like now) If it's too loose it will never close. If you loosen it, it will be best to let it warm up before you drive it.

Thanks Joe! I will try that. The problem is now that the heat riser is blocked it barely heats up.

Can you swap to electric choke?

Not sure if it's possible to add a electric choke. The 2300 series holleys have a divorced choke. No room for a electric choke coil with all the fuel lines and diaphrams in the way. I have seen electric divorced chokes used with thermaquads but the choke coils are too big to fit in the 6 pack choke well.

I never ran chokes on these cars, I blocked off the intakes and got the chokes to stay open. When I started the car, I just played with pedal until it warmed up, toke a few minutes, but that was ok for me.
Objects quickly DISAPPEAR in the rearview mirror and PLEASE stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop!!

I have mine wire open so I will be doing the same thing probably.

My heat risers don't work and the choke comes off fine. I know the motors are different, but there should be plenty of heat to get the choke to come off. Joe hit the nail on the head, you need to adjust the spring tension. I would do it cold, and have just enough to get the choke to close when cold. These cars are not used in the cold so having a choke set to lean won't cause any problems, what you really need is fast idle. If you want help, let me know.

That was always my thought, Rich, we don't run these cars when it's 0 outside, normally in warmer weather, so it doesn't take that long.
