This means parts vendors make parts for them, and when compared to other old cars, they are pretty plentiful (We can complain about grille surrounds all we want, but try to find parts for a 41 Packard).

The downside is "Barrett-Jackson Fever". That's where someone sees a car similar to theirs go across the block for $100K, and since theirs is similar, it must be worth at least half that. The "Fever" prevents them from seeing the fact the car they saw was a ultra-rare specialty car, whereas the one in their driveway is a 4 door grocery getter.

Hello Mike.

Barrett-Jackson and their kind have done very little, if anything for the average Muscle car owner like you and me, other than raise the prices on parts cars and help to delete the remaining n.o.s.and good used parts supply for our street driven "grocery getters". As far as raising the interest in keeping older Muscle cars on the road, do you really believe that Barrett-Jackson and others like them are in the business to do that? We both know very well that they are in the automotive auction business to make a shitload of money and guess what? They have accomplished that single goal MANY times over and do we really want to start a discussion about the sellers with "grocery getter" style cars that have lost money on their cars at these kinds of auctions because in many cases reserves were not allowed on their cars?

I also don't see where Barrett-Jackson and their kind have done much, if anything to help me with aftermarket parts that I need to keep my 1966 Coronet 500 on the road and I won't hold my breath for the day that they do. Want to change my mind Mike? Then lets see a MAJOR change in our Mopar hobby where our 1966 and 1967 Coronets, as well as all of the other 1966 and 1967 Dodge and Plymouth B-Body cars aren't thought of and looked at as "red headed bastard step children" by the aftermarket parts suppliers that cater to the cars that Barrett-Jackson makes the most money on. I'm just damned tired of fighting this fight buddy.

Maybe it really is time for me to sell off all of my 1966 and 1967 stuff and take up gardening, I'd make a seriously good "lawn gnome" wouldn't I?

But I might end up with a certain NOS part back.

Richard, I have been holding out on you...

I can hide it anymore...

I got a set of used but in perfect condition defroster vent diffusers from a very good friend last summer...

I'm sorry.:o

That's very cool Rich, but all that means is that they haven't both broken at the mounting ear tabs .......YET!!!

By the way, did I ever tell you the fascinating story about the poor smuck who tried in vain for many years to get those 1966-67 defroster vent nozzles reproduced? I understand that he's asked his wife to have the following engraved on his headstone someday, "1966-67 Defroster Vent Nozzles: So Damned Close, But No Cigar". The poor guy hasn't been quite right since.
