Didn't know there was such a midyear difference. What is the number on the engine block. I can give you an idea of where it was in the production year, early or late.

I should have asked you for the number on the door post of the driver's side. If the number there is greater than 31467155 you have the later Deck lid lock. Give me some more time on the cylinder lock thing. You won't need the key to get the old cylinder out if you have the lock out. I'll have to search my resources again to find your answer.

Here is a link about locks for the '50. I think the pics are generic and I think you are wanting to know how to change the cylinder without a key. I'm still looking.

There is a way to get those lock cylinders out without the key or drilling them out. You do have to have access to the back side and I believe it involves grinding a button off of the cylinder. I haven't found the instructions yet but it sounds like you have already solved the problem.

yea it wasnt easy drilling it even after i got all the pins out it still wouldnt come outmachinegunekelly i even put heat to it ! i found out it was the little locking pin was keeping it,it finally broke then came out.the way the later models are made cant get from back it has the handle spindle then a extension that goes on back of lock.lets hope new lock goes in easliy
