Also, for safety, don't use any type of drop light the could make a spark should you drop/smash the light bulb. It would be disastrous. Only use a good flash light.
Sorry, I've seen a few garages in my town burn from gas tank mishaps.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the safety tip ws27, I used a regular flashlight when needed. I did get the tank empty and dropped. It needs a good cleaning, has anybody used the POR15 tank sealer? Or what products or ways have you guys cleaned out your old tanks? Trying not to drop 150+ on a new tank, mainly because I don't have the money to drop on it. Any advice is welcome.

Ok.....snow is gone time for an update. Installed a new tank and fuel sending unit. I put in some fuel, but I don't see fuel coming through the filter. Anybody have any ideas? Is there a way to test the fuel pump? Never rebuilt a carb, so how hard would this be? Also what carb would of been stock with a Coronet 500 with a 273? Also what else should I check for that might be causing it not to start. Hoping to get some time tomorrow to work on it.

if you disconnect the fuel line after the pump and turn the motor over fuel should come out. if it doesn't either the fuel pump is bad or there is a line blockage somewhere. disconnect the fuel line where it goes into the pump and blow air into the tank fuel should flow through the line. ***if you blow air into the tank with your mouth, be careful when you remove your mouth, built up pressure could blow gas back into your face/hair/ears/eyes, that you will smell for at least a week, I speak from experience(20 years ago)

Yes it was a great feeling to get it started. I made sure to call my aunt once I had it running to let her listen, she is happy I am enjoying the car. So now for a few questions. One - My heater isn't working, or I should say the blower. Any easy typical tips on what might be wrong? Two - When I had it idling there was an occasional faint beep, any ideas? Three - How do you open the ash tray? Does it pull out towards you, down??? I can't get it to budge.
