Project Nuthin' but Net

Well here's part 2 of the patch panel repair. I finished fitting it to the tail panel and welded it in. Then I ground down the weld to make it look pretty.

On to the next piece of rust.

I've been working on this tail light panel for a little while now. I'm about half done with it and I'm learning a lot. I definitely like doing this, it brings out my creative side. I have 2 full quarters for an 80's Ramcharger that I used to own. I'm using them to make the patch panels that I need. The cutting, hammering, shaping, welding, and grinding is relaxing and challenging at the same time. I find that it's easier to make patches that follow the body lines on the car. I'm able to hide flaws this way. I'm not sure if this is the way the pro's do it but it's the way I'm doing it.

And the next patch to go in. I'm finding that when I make my paper templates for the left side I just flip them over to make the right side.

It's been awhile but I've been working diligently on the Coronet. I've got the tail panel roughed in and in primer. It's now screwed to the body so it can hold the quarters in place. The next step is to work on the dutchman panel and package tray area. There's lots of rust there waiting to be removed. I'm also going to try and repair my rear window frame as it's rusted out as well. Here are some pics for you guys. Stay tuned for more to come. Smile
