That is odd for back there, we have allot of non A/C cars around here.

Really? I would have thought most everything in CA would have A/C.

Not really. Inland California maybe but not here, you would never need to turn it on here. I notice allot of cars ordered from the two main dealers back in the day around here don't have air. Even my `61 Imperial local car no air, and Morgan no air. We add allot of Vintage air kits to street rods around here since most of there show's are inland and the old guys wife wont go unless it has air, It HOT in the summer there.
