1966 Coronet 440 Convertible
#31
I'm guessing model code WP is Coronet 500 - can anyone confirm?
Does anybody know what these (below) model codes are ? (must be Belvedere, GTX, Satellite)

RH
RP

Looks like Tan was available on all models and trim levels. (Dodge & Plymouth B-Body)
Looks like Turquoise was only available on Coronet 500's

Interesting stuff.

The first letter is the car make. the second is the series number. W = Coronet P = Coronet 500. R = Belvedere \ Satellite H = Belvedere IIP = Satellite.

Jeff, look closely at the bottom and you'll see all the letter designations.

The problem for me is that none of the colored caps in section #8-33-17, are listed for use on the wood grain steering wheels and I don't even see a listing for a horn button of any kind for the wood grain wheel, only listings for the horn button ornaments and the horn button ornament retainers for use on the wood grain wheels. WH = Coronet 440 trim level cars
WP = Coronet 500 trim level cars and is also used for Charger models on some part listings
RH = Belvedere II trim level cars
RP = Satellite trim level cars

Since we're talking about wood grain steering wheels now, let me add this to the conversation. A 1966 Coronet 440 Hemi 4 speed project car being sold by the owner of the Rocket Restorations company. The reason that I brought this up, is because among some of the extra parts that are included with this car, is an n.o.s. wood grain steering wheel with the chrome horn button. I honestly don't know for sure if this style horn button is correct for a 1966 B-Body car or not, because I can't find a listing for it in the parts book, but either way I think it's a great looking wheel and horn button and it would be my choice if I were to put one of these wheel assemblies in my 66 Coronet 500.

And then on the other side of the debate we have a 1966 wood grain wheel with one of the red padded horn caps on a 1966 Coronet that is listed in the 1966 parts book, but not for use on the wood grain wheels! Damn, don't you just love Mother Mopar? Rofl

OK, the button I have looks just like the NOS one above, but has either a Plymouth symbol or a Valiant symbol, I'm leaning towards that it's a Valiant. It's 2530 255, see what you can find on that one Richard

Hello Rich,
Well my friend, your part number adds even MORE confusion to this wood grain debate! [Image: sSig_DOH.gif]

This is what I found on the MyMopar part number search.

ZIPPO, NADA, NOTHING, ZERO, NIL, ZILCH, NAUGHT! Are we seeing a pattern here? Rofl This is definitely a Chrysler part number, but I can't find it listed anywhere! [Image: shruggy.gif]

Richard, I don't see any confusion on my end. I knew it was a valiant wheel.

Now if we could get Jeff to get us his part number on the back of the dodge button that would be awesome.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the actual wheel was the same for all these.
