My friend bought it from the second owner.

The first kept it stock and only put about 2000 miles on it. The second modified it for racing, and I suppose was using a track, although I think it came from a different island than where my friend is from. My friend is the third and sort of lost storage, but more importantly is getting a Demon, so he decided this one needed to go.

Funny, the shipping distance is about half of it's total mileage.

My family and I just got back from hawaii (o'ahu island) they had a dragstrip but it was closed some years ago, saw something on tv while I was there about a bunch of people lobbying to let them open another one. I googled dragstrips in Hawaii and it looks like the other islands have one, unless they were recently closed.

I'll look up which island this car came from originally and see if there is one there.

Now I'm thinking I really should see what it can do before I change out the gears. Maybe I should look into when N.E. Dragway has amateur night.

Nice car Rich!
I drove my Super Bee over 1,000 miles per year and it had a 4:10 gear. Over half of the miles were on the freeway at 70mph. That hemi loved the RPM's!

I see you've been there too. It's an old abandoned air strip on the west side of the island near Kekaha and PMRF. I've been working occasionally at PMRF for the last 30 years and drive past that strip on the way to work. Its just about the only place on the island where you can get above 35 to 40 mph legally. (I do know of one other place, but its not legal!)

Thanks Joe! What make me a little scared is that the previous owner drove it on the freeway for the first time and we think he overheated the transmission. It spewed trans fluid out the bell housing. So he had the radiator re-cored, new trans cooler, and resealed the transmission.

I will be taking it out and driving it before I do anything. Just waiting to get it registered.

If the trans was overfilled it would foam up and spew fluid out of the breather vent in the bellhousing and cause the trans to over heat.

Thanks Joe, the guy who I bought it from is a real true gear head, so I'm pretty comfortable he didn't miss that. We all make mistakes though. I just can't wait to register it!
