Winter Coming
#1
What do you do to prepare your car if you don't drive it when snow/salt flies?

I used to keep electric heater in garage just to keep temp at 40F cause I ran straight distilled water.   I finally caved and did a 50/50 mix of A/F and DI water.  So far so good.

Otherwise, just disconnect battery..(not those cheap ones buy at swap meets, complete removal neg cable)

For those that live in the southern states that don't gotta worry about blocks freezing?

I remove the batteries and bring them in the house. Put covers on the cars. Usually when there’s a warm day in January I will take one battery out the the garage and start one car at a time and let it get up to temp. A few years ago I remember a warm day 55* in February that I took the desoto for a drive

I put coolant back in and like Jeff remove battery if its going to be a while to run. Car cover then a huge shipping blanket to spoil Max a bit. Cardboard on ground to help moisture a bit.
Almost time here.

My camera in garage now tells me the temp and alerts if gets too cold. But since it's under the house it never gets close enough to freezing. I did the A/F when I was away for most last winter and wouldn't be around to turn electric on.

I change the oil in everything before winter before I put everything away. Just to get rid of any impurities or contaminates while sitting. My garage is heated and air conditioned. I just keep it at 50 degrees all winter unless I go out there to work than bump it up. I just throw the car cover over it also. Here in Michigan if it is not snowing, I still drive it throughout the winters months weather permitting. I have driven it on Christmas and New Years days before due to no snow on the ground.

If there is not much snowmelt and salt on road I've driven mine a few times just to get the itch out. Then park it for awhile..
