Front window regulator "plastic rivet" work around "Toilet seat hinge"
#1
The passenger side window regulator failed on me this weekend and when I took the panel, arm rest and door handle off, I saw that the "
Window regulator rivet" had broke. I could have ordered the part, but we found a better work-around for this piece of plastic.

I bought a toilet seat hinge bolts from Home Depot.

I had to use a Dremmel to shorten the bolt and trim off some of the head on the nut (because the flange on the nut came into contact with the metal on the door when I raised the window all the way up)... but it worked and I think it's a better set up, but we'll see how it goes over time.

Hello Danny,

Are you speaking about the plastic rivet that is used on 1962 through 1970 B-Body cars to attach the front door window glass to the window regulator that looks like this?

Just wondering Danny, did you glue that plastic nut in place to keep it from backing off of the plastic bolt?

In case other members might need this part, the original factory plastic rivet is a press fit style fastener and is available as a reproduction part.

Hello Jenn,

The reproduction plastic rivets shown in my post above are about $3.00 each plus shipping.
