Horn Problems

Ive had my horn unhooked forever... because one of the bolts is broken off in the steering wheel so when i steer the horn ring beeps the horn...who knows who did that..wasnt me..anyways..while i was driving tonight another one fell out so it was all floppy i took it all apart and the horn assembly the contacts are broken up...i just wanna put the horn ring back on as a dummy and wire a button for the horn..how would i go about that.. Smile i know that when it grounds is when it turns on...how could i make that work in a different location Smile

Pretty much i think what i am asking is which wire do i snip and reroute to a button and then to a ground? Smile It will be reversable if i ever decide to go back to the horn ring..just re fuse the wire.

I can check on that wire color in the morning John, for now can you tell color of wire where it plugged in at horn switch on wheel still? Thats the one you need

Its black... it looks to be that there are two black wires grounded on the steering column under the dash but i doubt those are it...i hope this is easy.. lol Tongue anyone else ever run into this horn problem? lol

At the base of the steering shaft above brake pedal assm is a 10 wire connector. It's the Black wire with a tracer on it. Just tag into it and run your remote horn button.

Whats the easiest way to tap..whats the thing you use called so i can get one.. lol Tongue i will admit i am new to the whole car electrics...i know it just has to ground out is all so the end on my new wire goes to button..other wire from button goes to ground...

I prefer exposing the wire and solder a wire to that wire. Then a good tape job.

They make a item called "scotch-loc"
It goes over the wire and let's you add a wire. Then you crip it and they are connected.
You also can find a remote horn button assm at any big rig travel plaza or truck stop.
Heck even a door bell button would work from lowes.
