Was thinking of this as the thought of 18" plus or antenna constantly sticking up and torquing on a fender makes me cringe. I did a quick search and seen classic offers a conversion. I gotta look at the fender and see what kinda room I've got to work with.

I haven't done one but was thinking about it too. But the ones I've seen don't look like it will cover the hole. I don't know if it's the stock size, Do you have a spec for the size of the hole? I think there's room inside the fender well for what I've seen available.

Any more info on a power antenna swap?

Nothing new. When installing the factory antenna I do recall how the lower portion with cable was touching the splash shield on that side which makes me think this is a tight area. A thought (too late now) would be to re-locate the antenna further back on the fender where room would allow for a power setup to be installed. The factory one makes me cringe every time I put the car cover on because of the torque it induces to the fender. Don't want to crack the paint around the hole!

Slice car cover at antenna and sew Velcro to close back up when cover goes on.

Not a bad idea! Could always just replace it with a "whip" antenna??? HA!
