What is this for?

What is this for? Looks like a drain. Its a 67 Coronet 500. There is a similar one next to the blower motor and I know that there is a rubber hose that goes from the blower motor to that fitting.

This is an AC car.

At first I thought it was a condensate drain, but if it goes to the motor it is to supply cooling air to the motor.

The one hooked up to the cooling motor is on the other side. This one is next to the throttle cable.

I believe they are right, one is a condensation drain and the other is to cool the blower motor.

There are two drains. One under the blower motor and one over the transmission. I think you are looking at the drivers side drain.
Sorry, I read your first post wrong.

They also don't work very well while driving down the road as the wind keeps the condensate up inside the box until you stop, then it all drains out. They would work better if they were pointing down.

Thanks! Next question is should there be a rubber elbow on it or not?

I don't think they came from the factory with rubber elbows. They would make the condensate drain out consistently while driving.

I noticed when I was driving Jim's wagon, it made huge puddles when the car was stopped. At car shows, it would flow completely across to the car next to it.
