1950 Interchangeability Questions
#11
I think I saw one of the parts books you were talking about. They are year specific and would be a good tool around the garage. The one I have covers many years and most of the drawings are for the later models which can be confusing but It lists parts for several years so I can find the right part if it is one that crosses over to another year and model. An example is the parking light lenses for my '49 Coronet. It turns out that it is the same part number for a '50 DeSoto and these are the only 2 years/models that this particular lens was used. (Not sure about crossover to trucks, my book doesn't include them)

On the subject of interchangeable parts, what are the odds of finding a steering wheel horn ring for my 55 Coronet? I can't find one for love nor money Sad are there other rings that'll fit? (different models/makes??) I'm not a purist so if a early/later style gets the job done I'm happy to consider it.

Thanks

Zakk

My book only goes as far forward as 1954 so I don't have any good numbers for 1955. From another source I'm guessing the horn ring is part # 1324 082. This number is the same for all the '51 to '54 Dodges.

Thanks 48mirage, going by the the link you supplied 1324082 comes up as 51-54 mod horn ring. Are there much difference between 54 and 55 steering wheel??

I don't know if there are differences on the horn ring. I tried to go through all of the horn rings listed in the link I supplied and that year wasn't. I tried ebay and couldn't find anything other than the horn pad, but that doesn't help me with the ring.
