Welcome Harrold, sorry I missed this post earlier. That is one clean 66 500. Once you get used to the manual drum brakes, they won't be so bad.

Welcome to the site. Great looking Coronet!! I've not replaced my drums with discs yet. Some days after driving the '08 "300" the first stop is enlightening!

My new '68 Runner had manual drums, but the '68 GTX that followed had power discs - huge difference! The fellow I bought the '66 from had all new wheel cylinders, brake linings & fluid installed, so they work as good as you could ask for. I get straight stops with my hands off the wheel - can't beat that. Some of the Mopar guys I know are replacing the single master cylinder with the dual unit from later years. Pretty straightforward & it gives a bit of added safety. I live in a fairly rural part of Ontario, so I don't need to worry about stopping fast. If I do anything, I might go the dual master route.

If you do, you may want to consider switching to silicone brake fluid? Do you live up in the cottage country?
