magnum heads on LA block swap is done
#1
I finally finished putting my 318LA/magnum combo together. for anyone interested, here is the combo/part numbers. a set of magnum heads from the junkyard that I made a jig to redrill for the LA intake bolt angle. I swapped on a set of valve springs and retainers from a GM 3.1L/3.4L motor also from the junkyard as the magnum springs are really weak. I used comp cams guide plates #4825-8, rocker arm studs #4542-16 and edelbrock hardened pushrods #9638, these are the length a for hyd. roller lifter. I also used summit roller tip rockers for a small block chevy 1.6 ratio, you can use stock magnum rockers if you want to. any chevy rocker arms will work, I used the roller tip rockers because I want to stay with factory valve covers, the full roller rockers will need taller valve covers. you will also need the head bolts from a magnum motor, they are different lengths than the LA bolts. I did have to oval out the mounting holes on the intake a small amount to get it to fit properly.
