R/T DOWN - R/T XTC - 07-26-19 Calling on you friends for help, my long time favorite car is giving me fits and I an looking for help in figuring it out. 1969 Coronet with direct connection electronic ignition conversion is experiencing a no spark situation on cranking and will not fire. what is the best way to diagnose orange box or the pick up in the distributor. I am lost and need to get this car to start. any advise would be greatly appreciated . I know you folks can help me fix this,. I checked with the local dodge dealer where I bought this kit from and was told the parts are no longer available. R/T DOWN - 65rbdodge - 07-27-19 Unplug the wires from both sides of the balist resistor. Take a short piece of wire and connect the two wires you just disconnected. Try starting the car if it starts you need a new balist resistor. This would be the first thing I would do if this happened to me. R/T DOWN - R/T XTC - 07-27-19 i checked both sides for power with a test light and was good ,should i still try that? when i turn the key to start the starter engages but when i let off and return the key to the off position the car farts out the carb like it wants to fire thenWTF R/T DOWN - 67r/t4speeder - 07-27-19 Grounded block to firewall? Try a jumper ground from block to box. Try a different box? You can pick one up at parts store, doesn't have to be orange. R/T DOWN - R/T XTC - 07-27-19 air gap .008 was actually pre set but i checked any way, tried a different coil wire , ready to try a different coil or cap and rotor or start checking wires with a continuity tester. think wiring might be my best option R/T DOWN - R/T XTC - 07-27-19 I haven't been on in a few weeks and I see you are getting closer to Wisconsin you wouldn't be in the way we'd be getting a lot of cars fixed R/T DOWN - R/T XTC - 07-28-19 well this will be a short thread ,after triple checking everything under the hood , I decided the problem must be under the dash , and to my surprise after owning this car over thirty five years one of the previous owners modified the ignition wiring probably for a kill switch . I put power to that wire and she fired right up. R/T BACK UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
