New member with a new car (new for me at least) - samdjr74 - 08-04-15 Hi All, Thanks for letting me join. I just purchased a 1958 Coronet 2 door sedan. Right now it's in a driver condition which is fine but I plan on doing some work to it so it's a little nicer to cruise around town with. Thanks, Sam 6506] New member with a new car (new for me at least) - thebankerstoy - 08-04-15 Welcome to the DCR Sam and you my friend have found yourself a fantastic ride! What plans do you have for the car and do you have any other pictures? We love pictures here on the DCR! Richard New member with a new car (new for me at least) - samdjr74 - 08-04-15 Thanks Richard! Right now my plans are small. I need to fix a problem with the power steering, seems that the o-rings on the return side are missing so that's the first order of business. Next I need to replace the struts as there's way too much body roll for my liking. I saw a local shop carries a coil over strut/shock kit for the 57-59's so I might give it a try. Next I need to add seat belts to the back, this will be the family cruiser so I need to get the car seats in for my 2 boys. From there I'm hoping to get a new set of rims, slightly bigger, just need to work out the back spacing. Of course there's a whole lot more I want to do, it needs some body work, minor interior work, some electrical work (the list sounds big but not so bad) I'll get some more pictures shortly once I get the steering box back together! New member with a new car (new for me at least) - samdjr74 - 08-04-15 Thanks, it's got a 325 under the hood. 67r/t4speeder Wrote:Welcome Sam your Coronet looks super cool New member with a new car (new for me at least) - thebankerstoy - 08-04-15 Hello Sam, Sounds like some very good projects there, but I must admit that I really like the wheels and tires that you have on the car now! Is the issue a smaller selection of tires in the 14" wheel size these days? I'm excited to see more pictures of the car when you get a chance as I've always liked the mid to late 1950's Dodge and Plymouth models, so it's nice to have another member on the DCR who owns one! ![]() Richard New member with a new car (new for me at least) - samdjr74 - 08-04-15 The idea was to keep the car stock for the most part and lean towards a restoration. But once I got the car and realized that the previous owner made a few changes, the restoration didn't make sense. Instead a few subtle upgrades would be nice. The tires that are on there are toast and need to be replaced. I was thinking about putting on a set of white walls which is still a possibility, I'm just weighting in me options. I know I'll find more options with a larger rim and I can improve the handling a little bit. I'm not looking to make it a daily driver but I was it to handle well enough that I feel comfortable putting a 2 1/2 and 4 y/o in the back seat. thebankerstoy Wrote:Hello Sam, New member with a new car (new for me at least) - Tyrra - 08-05-15 Welcome Sam !
